Osun court remands duo for stealing bags of rice, money

A Magistrates’ Court sitting in Osogbo, the capital city of Osun State has remanded to two middle-aged men for stealing bags of rice and money.

The accused persons, Oguntolu Tirinisiyu, 55 and Kehinde Segun, 37 allegedly committed the offence on November 28, 2021 around 10:00p.m. at Sabo in Ikire.

The police prosecutor, Inspector Temitope Fatoba informed the court that the duo stole nine bags of rice, cash sum of N500,000.

He said the accused person also demanded the sum of N20,000 to be transferred to First Bank account number 3055380295 total valued N743,000 property of one Edward Taiwo.

The offence committed was contrary to and punishable under Sections 390(9), 516 and 383 of the Criminal Code Cap 34 Vol. II Laws of Osun State of Nigeria, 2002.

The accused persons pleaded not guilty to the three-count charge levelled against them.

The Defense Counsel, Olusegun Olatoye prayed the court to grant his clients bail on liberal terms.

Magistrate, O.A Daramola in his ruling asked the defense counsel to file a formal bail application.

The Magistrates thereafter remanded them at Ilesa Correctional Centre pending the formal bail application.

The case was adjourned till February 1, 2022 for hearing of formal bail application.
