…Tasks MDAs on improved revenue generation
The State Budget Implementation Committee on Wednesday reviewed the 2nd quarter report of the 2022 appropriation bill with a view to ensuring that the budget estimate performs optimally for the benefit of residents.
The Budget Implementation Committee of the State meets quarterly with the directive of Governor Adegboyega Oyetola in a bid to ensure that his campaign promises are delivered to the people of the State.
Chaired by the Commissioner for Economic Planning, Budget and Development, Prof. Olalekan Yinusa, the committee takes a look at quarterly performance of the budget in each of the 15 sectors of the State for improvement.
Speaking at the meeting today held at the conference room, Finance building, Prof. Yinusa used the occasion to task Ministries, Departments and Agencies of government to continue to be proactive and result oriented in the their various MDAs.
He urged them to see revenue generation as a onerous task which everyone must assist the State Government to achieve for the benefit of all sundry.
The Commissioner who commended the efforts of the Osun Internal Revenue Service OIRS, stated that the appropriation bill was not signed into law to just raise the hope of the people and the private sector, but government wants it to impact the masses of the State.
Yinusa added that it is important for the state to continue to collaborate with the private sector, describing the relationship as a symbiotic one which must be kept alive at all times for the benefit of all and sundry.
“We really need to be proactive in terms of revenue generation for our State. Things are not as good as it should be, but we thank God that by divine intervention things have been moving forward through the sincerity and the financial transparency of our Governor, we can’t afford to relent,” the Commissioner stated.
