The Osun State House of Assembly has adopted the N129.7 billion 2022 proposed budget report for the state after being reviewed by the House Committee on Finance and Appropriation.
The Finance and Appropriation Committee Chairman, Olodo Taiwo, before submitting the report on Monday, read the recommendations and adjustments made by his committee to the proposed budget.
Taiwo stressed the need for the state government to fund and equip its revenue generating agencies in order to boost the financial capability of the state.
He also noted the need for the state government to increase funding to the health and education sectors in a bid to add value to the residents of the state.
On his part, Speaker of the Assembly, Timothy Owoeye, said that the budget should be expanded to accommodate the needs of the revenue generating ministries and agencies.
Owoeye disclosed that he had a meeting with Governor Gboyega Oyetola where it was noted that the revenue generating agencies in the state should be well equipped in order for them to perform maximally.
He recalled that during the budget defence of the state Ministries, Departments and Agencies, some agencies complained of shortage of staff.
The speaker also stated that there was need for the state government to purchase a drilling machine for the state water corporation for provision of potable water to the people.
According to him, this would boost revenue generation for the state.
He further added that the governor had agreed in principle to expand the budget.
