…Those behind purported suspension are illiterate, know nothing about party politics — Salinsile

The State Executive Committee of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State has expelled 26 members on grounds of alleged anti-party activities.

It would be recalled that the party had yesterday suspended 84 members of the party for anti-party activities.

The party leadership had earlier constituted a Disciplinary Committee to investigate allegations of anti-party activities against some members.

In a statement signed by the party chairman, Tajudeen Lawal and made available to journalists on Thursday night revealed that the disciplinary measure came in response to the allegations of misconduct and actions that embarrassed and brought the party to disrepute.

The statement read, “Following complaints of anti-party activities, the State Executive Committee of the Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) constituted a Disciplinary Committee to investigate the allegations against some of its members.”

“This disciplinary measure came in response to the allegations of misconduct bordering on factionalisation of the party and creating parallel party organ.

“The Disciplinary Committee undertook a thorough and impartial review of the allegations and the findings were carefully deliberated upon by the State Executive Committee.

“After a comprehensive assessment of the evidence and consideration of the committee’s recommendations, the State Executive Committee has taken the difficult yet necessary step of suspending the following members indefinitely.”

The suspended members are; Former Secretary to the State Government, Osun State, Alhaji Moshood Adeoti, the former Speaker of Osun State House of Assembly, Hon. Najeem Salami, ex-Senator representing Osun West Senatorial District, Senator Mudasiru Hussain.

Others are Elder Adelowo Adebiyi, Mr. Adelani Baderinwa, Mr. Sikiru Ayedun, Engr. Kazeem Salami, Alhaji Adesiji Azeez, Barr. Gbenga Akano, Mr. Kunle Ige, Mr. Biodun Agboola, Barr. Gbenga Awosode, Mr. Rasheed Opatola, Hon. Gbenga Ogunkanmi.

Hon. Israel Oyekunle, Hon. MBO Ibraheem, Mr. Akeem Olaoye, Hon. Francis Famurewa, Hon. Tajudeen Famuyide, Hon. (Mrs.) Adenike Abioye, Hon. Wasiu Adebayo, Hon. Rasheed Afolabi, Mr. Segun Olanibi, Mr. Tunde Ajilore, Mr Ganiyu Ismaila Opeyemi, Mr Zakariah Khalid, Olaoluwa-South LCDA.

“As we move forward, we enjoin our members to remain focused on our goals and continue working together to serve the interests of our constituents and our State.”

“Our commitment to transparency, inclusivity, and adherence to our party’s core values remains unwavering,” he said.

Meanwhile, the former factional chairman of the All Progressives Congress in Osun State, Mr. Rasaq Salinsile, has described the suspension of 84 members by the leaders of the party as a social media play, saying they do not know the Progressives’ history in the state.

Salinsile disclosed this on Thursday in Osogbo, while reacting to the suspension, saying that the party’s Disciplinary Committee failed to invite them to do a thorough investigation over anti-party allegations before the purported suspension.

Salinsile noted that the people behind the purported suspension are strangers in the struggle of the progressives in the state.

He accused the members of the Disciplinary Committee of being between and within the IleriOluwa caucus.

According to him, in article 21 (I)(2)(3) being of the party under discipline, it’s expressly stated that any member of the party that commits any list of the offenses listed in the article will be invited or questioned. If it’s at the ward level whatever their decision will be sent to the state to do some investigation before forwarding the report to the national which has the final say.

“Only National has the final say if it concerns anybody from ward and state or state and ward. Nobody ever invited me for questioning.

“Some people are just calling me you have been suspended from the party, I don’t know where that is done. Those behind this are a bunch of illiterates who know nothing or know next to nothing about party politics and administration,” he said.
