Osun APC passes vote of confidence on Ajibola Basiru as National Secretary

The All Progressives Congress (APC), Osun State chapter, has thrown its weight behind the choice of Senator Ajibola Bashir as the National Secretary of the party ahead of ratification by the National Executive Council (NEC).
The Osun APC chairman, Sooko Tajudeen Lawal, in a statement issued by the party’s Director of Media and Information, Chief Kola Olabisi, on Tuesday, stated that the Osogbo-born Senator possesses all it takes to perform optimally as the National Secretary of the party.
Lawal disclosed that a vote of confidence was unanimously passed by the state executive officers of the party at a meeting yesterday in the state party secretariat in Osogbo on the suitability of Senator Bashir to occupy the office of the National APC Secretary.
He recalled that the record of the superlative performance of Senator Bashir, an accomplished lawyer, is indelible in the Senate.
Lawal explained that Bashir was one of the first timers in the Senate who was saddled with the responsibility of a crucial function as the mouth-piece of the Senate which he carried out satisfactorily, diligently and flawlessly.
The state APC chairman also stated that the experience gathered in both private and public offices at different times as a lawyer, a commissioner, a lecturer and a distinguished Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria will fortify him to excel as the National Secretary of the APC.
He disclosed that Senator Bashir is the choice of all and sundry in the APC in Osun State, going by his experience, having managed elections successfully in 10 different states.
Lawal added that his capability and acceptability for the exalted office of the National Secretary of the ruling party is not in doubt.
The Osun State APC Chairman also stated that Senator Bashir’s deep knowledge of law and legal profession interconnectivity within and outside Nigeria would be an asset for the Senator to operate smoothly in the office as the National Secretary of the APC.
In Lawal’s words, “We have looked right, left and centre and we, in the state chapter of our party, have settled for the choice of Senator Ajibola Bashir as the next National Secretary of our great party.
“The lawyer-politician is a tested and trusted hand whose oratory endowment coupled with efficient delivery of contents in any difficult situation has towered him above his peers.
“It will, however, not be an overstatement to describe Senator Bashir as an independent-minded personality but it is also to his credit that he is an unrepentant team player whose contributions had positively impacted our party in Osun State.
“It is for all these reasons that we are pleading with the NEC of our party to make the ratification of Senator Bashir as the National Secretary of our party a done deal at its formal meeting holding on Thursday,” he stated.
