The Osun State chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Sooko Tajudeen Lawal, has described Chief Bisi Akande as a blessing to mankind who has been using his God-given endowments to impact the society positively.

Lawal in his tribute to Chief Akande on his 85th birthday anniversary in a statement issued by the Osun State APC Director of Media and Information, Chief Kola Olabisi, today stated that the birthday celebrator is among the divinely favoured species of human beings who are fulfilled in life.

The state APC chairman explained that it is on record that Pa Akande has been directly or indirectly mentoring some of his disciples who have turned out to be veritable assets to the society.

He recalled the steadfastness of Baba Akande in the progressive political ideology of his mentor, the late Pa(Chief) Obafemi Awolowo, former Premier of the defunct Western Region, whose name has become a constant reference to the progressive politicians in this country.

Lawal stated that he would remain eternally grateful to Chief Akande through whom he has unconsciously internalized some virtues that are now guiding him in his political life.

He described the birthday celebrator as a rare consummate politician who detests lies like a plague in building his political dynasty which has been formidably institutionalized in the overall interest of the society.

The Osun State APC chairman stated that he could confidently say that Pa Akande has been, through his selfless attributes, making this world better than the way he met it.

In Lawal’s words: “Pa(Chief) Bisi Akande is an upright political leader of the progressive extraction who has been putting in his all for the betterment of the society.

“Papa is a loving husband and caring father to both his biological and political children and he has been nurturing them to enviable positions”, the state APC chairman said.

Chief Akande, the Asiwaju of Ila-Orangun in the Central Senatorial District of Osun State, was born on January 16, 1939 in the ancient town.

He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Cost and Management Accountants (FCMA), a politician who served as the governor of Osun State from 1999 to 2003, and the National Leader of the ruling APC.

Chief Akande worked for British Petroleum from 1963 to 1979 when, as Manager, System and Computer Services, he left (on a leave of absence) to serve in the government of the old Oyo State: first as Secretary to the Government and, subsequently, in November 1982, he became the Deputy Governor to the late Chief Bola Ige.

Lawal prayed to God Almighty to grant Baba Akande the grace to spend more quality lives on the surface of the earth with fulfilled aspirations in all ramifications.
