Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has formally presented the staff of office and instrument of appointment to Oba Williams Oyesunle Alabi Ogundare II, the 15th Asundunrin of Isundunrin, in the Ejigbo Local Government Area of the state.
Oba Alabi, who was first installed as the Asundunrin of Isundunrin on December 3, 1985, reigned for 12 years before his tenure was interrupted by a Supreme Court ruling. Governor Adeleke appointed Oba Alabi once again on August 19, 2024, following the passing of Oba Apostle Alimi Gbadegesin earlier in the year.
The presentation ceremony took place on Tuesday at the Baptist Primary School, Isundunrin, in Ejigbo Local Government. Governor Adeleke was represented by the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Barrister Dosu Babatunde, who made the formal presentation of the staff of office.
In his address, Governor Adeleke urged the people of Isundunrin to continue supporting his administration for the development of the state. He also called on the new monarch to unite his subjects in order to foster the growth of the community.
“It gives me immense pleasure and joy to be part of this memorable event, as we formally present the instrument of appointment and staff of office to His Royal Highness, Oba Oyesunle Williams Alabi, the Asundunrin of Isundunrin, today, December 3, 2024,” said Governor Adeleke.
“I am glad to be part of this new era and chapter in the history of this town, and I believe this is an occasion that the Royal Highness and the good people of the community have eagerly awaited.”
He continued, “Now that you are on the throne of your forefathers, the period of contest is over, and the period of administering the community has begun. Cooperate with the present administration and mobilise your people to contribute to the growth and development of Osun State. To the people of Isundunrin, the government expects you to live in peace and harmony with your neighbours.”
Among the eminent dignitaries present at the event were several traditional rulers, including the Ogiyan of Ejigbo, Oba Omowonuola Oyeyode Oyesosin II, and the Alapomu of Apomu.
