Osun 2026: APC tells Adeleke, PDP to stop jittering
The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State has called on Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State and the ruling People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to avoid jittering ahead of the Osun 2026 Gubernatorial elections.
The Party stated that if indeed the Governor Adeleke administration was performing, the governor and the party have nothing to fear, adding that from their malicious statement, it is clear they are already afraid of the APC when 2026 is still very far away.
The APC was reacting to the statement by the PDP where it, among other things, alleged that the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola, was trying to use his attendance of the SMEDAN event in Osogbo to launch his 2026 campaign.
Reacting to the development, the Osun State chairman of the APC, Sooko Tajudeen Lawal, in a statement issued by the party’s Director of Media and Information, Chief Kola Olabisi, on Sunday, stated that the sterling performance of Oyetola in Osun are still very visible even to the blind, saying if Oyetola had failed in Osun, there would have been nothing for Senator Adeleke to build on.
Lawal noted that the Senator Adeleke administration would not have been able to present the first Bond of N1.5 billion to the contributory pensioners in the state, barely four months after Oyetola left office.
He stated that if the current Osun State governor has the kind of enviable background Oyetola had, he won’t be regarded as the most entertaining governor in Nigeria one year after assuming office with nothing positive about good governance to associate him with other than vices.
The state APC chairman disclosed further that every critical stakeholder in the Marine and Blue Economy is aware of the strong foundation the minister was putting in place in the ministry to build an enduring ministry that would help position Nigeria as a foremost maritime destination, saying that if Oyetola had not stabilised the Osun economy, by now, the people of the State would have been throwing stones at Governor Adeleke and he would not have been able to take off from day one.
In Lawal’s words: “Most people who are incompetent and lack ideas always judge others by their own standard. This is what the PDP is doing.
“They think everyone is like them who lacks direction, decency and morals.”
“We had done many party primaries in APC, therefore, the candidacy of anyone cannot tear us apart as alleged by the PDP.
“Oyetola is too decent a man to use his attendance at the SMEDAN function as the Special Guest of Honour to launch any political activity.
“Instead of being in a hurry, why not wait till Monday and see if the minister’s speech has any semblance of politics.
“Why is it that Adeleke and his co-travellers are always feeling jittery at the sight and shadow of the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy?
“One would have thought that the pathological liability masquerading as the governor by proxy in his sister’s Ede country home would be enough concern for the rudderless PDP leadership in the state rather than acting like a meddlesome interloper.
“The complaint of the factional chairman of the Osun State chapter of the PDP about the SMEDAN is misplaced and lacking in substance,” Lawal stated.
