Osun 2022: Group warns election observers against fake reports

A group, the Center for Transparency Advocacy( CTA) has warned the election observers that will be participating in Saturday’s governorship election against fake reports from their polling unit.
The Executive Director of the group, Ms. Faith Nwadishi, gave the warning at a day training for election observers in Osogbo on Thursday, urged them not to jeopardize the electoral process with bias report.
Ms Nwadishi charged them to stay away from any political affiliation that can drive them away from object report, noted that the role of election observers could not be overstated as they work with the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to ensure free, fair, and credible elections.
“Observers’ reports have helped INEC to improve on the electoral process by giving them information on areas they can work on, so giving a factual report is very essential”, she said.
She also advised electorates not to sell their votes in the coming election as the act would affect the outcome of the election.
Speaking on the code of conduct for observers, the facilitator, Mr. Ezenwa Nwagwu warned them not to collect any form of gifts from community leaders or politicians.
He said, “Be diligent in doing your work as an observer, don’t interfere with the election officer’s work, and lastly, give an unbiased report.”
The training had in attendance sixty election observers to work in the thirty Local Government Areas of Osun State and Area Office.
