OSSIEC sets up verification committee ahead of LG polls

The Osun State Independent Electoral Commission (OSSIEC) has set up a high-level verification committee to authenticate the credentials and documents of nominated candidates for the upcoming local government elections in Osun State.
In a statement issued on Wednesday by the Omoyemi Badru, press Secretary to the commission Chairman said that the commission set up the committee as political parties round off their primary elections.
The committee, chaired by Alhaji Abdul-lateef Olayanju, a retired mathematician from the National Population Commission (NPC), and co-chaired by Mr. Kazeem Adeniyi Olatokun, a retired banker and fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN), will ensure the integrity of the electoral process.
Other members of the committee include seasoned professionals from various fields, such as law, science, and education.
According to statement, “The Committee which is to verify credentials and documents submitted by nominated candidates is to be headed by Alhaji Abdul-lateef Olayanju, an Osogbo-born Mathematician who retired from the National Population Commission (NPC) and co-headed by Mr. Kazeem Adeniyi Olatokun, a retired Banker, is a Fellow and Associate of the Institute of Chartered Accountant of Nigeria (ICAN) who hails from Ede, Osun State. The Secretary of the Committee is Ikire- born Mrs Iyabo Olaniyi, a seasoned legal practitioner of over fifteen years of experience.
“Members include Mr Samson Abiola Amure – a retired Local Government Staff from Ilesa, Mrs Hanifat Adenike Adediran – a Scientist from Ile-Ife, Mrs Olubisi Temitope Onifade – a graduate of English Language from Boluwaduro, Mr. Tajudeen Badejoko – a retired Deputy State Auditor-General also from Ikire. Others include Mrs Abolaji Atolagbe, a staff of Osun State Judiciary from Ila, Mr Adebayo Wasiu, a retired Zonal Inspector of Education from Iwo, Mrs Rofiyat Bayonle Babatunde is from Ikirun while Hamzat Wasiu Olajide is from Ifon in Orolu local government.
“Abisola Ariwodola will represent NUJ/NAWOJ on the Committee, while representatives of Osun Internal Revenue Services (OIRS) will also be part of the Committee. The Committee is expected to be inaugurated at a sooner date to be announced by the Chairman of the Commission.”
