Osinbajo to chair third National Transport Summit — CIOTA

The Chartered Institute of Transport Administration of Nigeria (CIOTA) has said that the Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo will chair its 3rd National Transport summit in Abuja this year.
The summit is scheduled to hold between 6th and 8th December 2021 at the Musa Yar’Adua centre, Abuja.
Speaking to journalists in Lagos during the inauguration of the summit committees and press briefing president of CIOTA, Dr. Bashir Jamoh who is represented by the Registrar/secretary go the council, Mr. Rasheed Aiyelabegan said the theme of the National summit is ‘Regulating the Transport Sector in Nigeria: The state of the act and the years ahead.’
He said that, “This year’s summit aims to examine the current state of the practice in economic, technical and safety regulation in the transport sector of Nigeria involving all modes
“In achieving this, the summit will interrogate the scope and implication of ongoing reforms in the transport sector by bringing together critical stakeholders, experts and policymakers to share global best practices in the field of technical and economic regulations
“This year’s summit targeted about 500 participants, this include policymakers in the ministries such as transportation, works, aviation, and petroleum resources. Others are experts from regulatory and multilateral agencies, transport professionals and the general transport community.
“The speakers for this year’s summit will come from academics, operations, administration, and management, the discussants will focus on both technical and economic regulations.”
He also said that the Vice President Prof. Yemi Osinbajo will chair this year’s summit and will declare the event open. The special guest of honour will be Hon. Minister for Transportation, Aviation and state Transportation with other dignitaries.
He said, “CIOTA is the premier chartered professional transport body in Nigeria, providing training, membership and certification that specifically address the work performed by transport professionals.
“The institute became chartered by an Act of the National Assembly on the 22nd of may 2019 and gazette with the Federal Government act no 27 of 2019 as a corporate body with perpetual succession, charged with the responsibility of advancing the study, training and regulating the practice of transport management and administration in Nigeria in all it’s ramification and for other related matter.
“In line with the advocacy on public policy mandate as stipulated by the Federal Government act, the Institute kick-started her annual National Summit event,” he said.
