Osimhen’s brace knocks Mourinho’s Fenerbahce out of Turkish Cup
Victor Osimhen delivered a remarkable performance on Wednesday, netting a brace that propelled Galatasaray to a 2-1 victory over Fenerbahce in the final stage of the Turkish Cup, thereby eliminating José Mourinho’s side from the competition.
Osimhen opened the scoring in the 10th minute with a clinical strike from the edge of the box, before doubling his tally in the 27th minute from the penalty spot, giving Galatasaray a comfortable 2-0 advantage at the break.
Fenerbahce responded just before the interval, with Sebastian Szymañski finding the net in stoppage time, but despite their best efforts in the second half, they could not find an equaliser.
Substitutions involving Mert Yandaº and Kerem Demirbay late in the match provided Fenerbahce with fresh impetus, but Galatasaray held firm to secure the win and advance to the next stage of the competition.
