Ortom commission Benue State Primary Health Care Board complex
…..Says health remain topmost priority of his administration

Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom on Tuesday commissioned the permanent office complex for the Benue State Primary Health Care Board.
Ortom who performed the commissioning ceremony in Makurdi was accompanied by his Deputy Engineer Benson Abounu and other Benue State Executive Council Members, disclosed that the health of Benue people remain the topmost priority of his administration.
“It is only when the sound health of a person is guaranteed that other things follow.
” Health is wealth and the resolve to make it one of the five pillars of my administration which informed the establishment of Board in 2015 at the inception of my administration.” Ortom stated.
The Governor explained that since the establishment of the board, he had continued to monitor and support the activities of the board to ensure that health service delivery to the rural areas of the State is guaranteed.
He further explained that the State Primary Health Care Board and Benue State Health Insurance Agency are working in synergy to ensure Universal Health Coverage, (UHC) in the State.
Ortom also revealed that the disbursement of funds to eligible primary health care facilities in the state and enrollment of most vulnerable for easy access to service delivery would soon commence across the State.
He promised to look into the demands made by the board and urged the Bureau for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs as well as relevant agencies to ensure close synergy with the Board for optimal productivity.
Earlier, the Commissioner for Health and Human Services, Dr Joseph Ngbea, revealed that the SPHCB was established to provide effective and affordable health care services to Benue people.
The board Chairman Mrs Comfort Agogo and the Executive Secretary, Dr Bem Ageda both expressed delight over the edifice, however, appealed for provision of Cold Vans, working cold room, utility vehicles and conference Hall for the board as well as recruitment of more health workers for maximum productivity.
