Following the bad State of Federal roads in Benue State that have become death traps claiming several lives, Benue  State Govvernor Samuel Ortom has called on the Federal Government to see the need to rehabilitate the Federal High ways in State motorable.
Ortom also stated that it could be recalled that the 2019 general election in the State  that President Muhammadu Buhari emerged as the President of Nigeria, it is clear that the All Progressives Congress (APC) is on ground in State and needed  to enjoy Federal presence in good form in all sectors of economy.
The Govvernor made the call during his funeral oration at the burial of his Special Adviser on local government and chieftaincy affairs late Jerome Torshimbe in Naka the headquarters of Gwer West local government area of Benue State.
He described his aide as an experienced administrator, loyal and result oriented that will be greatly missed, added that the vacuum he has created in his administration will be difficult to fill.
Ortom also reacted on the killing of  elders in Gwer West by youths, vowed to send security after anyone involved in the act.
He said killing of human beings for any reason was not justified noting that anybody found to have been involved in the criminal act will be arrested and made to face the full weight of the law.
The  Governor  called on residents in the area to identify youths who are responsible for killing of  elders in the name of Oracle Consultation.
Earlier, a Benue Second Class Chief (Ter Tyoshin) HRH Daniel Ayua Abomtse,  expressed worry over  sporadic and isolated murder of elders on account of oracle consultation by youths in his domain.
Chief Abomtse said over thirty elderly persons have been sent to their early graves, spanning from 2012 to date.
He urged government to bring down its sledge hammer on perpetrators and connivance of the dastard acts to speedily check the ugly trend.
Chief Abomtse also urged the state government to investigate the abduction and murder of Sub- lieutenant David Terhemba Igbashal between borders of Ebonyi and Enugu States around Ngbo Community in Ohaukwu Local Government Area in Ebonyi State in February, 2020 on his way to his home state Benue.
According to him, the family of the slained naval officer is heavily traumatised since the occurrence of the incident seven (7) months ago.
On his part, the Tor Tiv Professor James Ayatse represented by  Tor Kwande,  HRH Chief Ambrose Iotyer  at the burial threatened to invoke Swem (Highest Tiv Traditional Oracle) against youths who kill elders.
