OPC saves 35year Old Car Accident victim from point of death in Lagos.

A night guard with a Yoruba Socio-cultural group, Oodua People’s Congress (OPC), Mr Segun Asewaju at the early of hours of Friday rescued a driver who ran into an electricity pole before hitting a fence at Ikotun Ijegun road, Lagos.

Asewaju said that the accident which involved a Toyota Sienna car marked K2Y 599 GP, Lagos, occurred at about 1:00 a.m.

He alleged that the driver was speeding from Ikotun Ijegun road when the car suddenly ran into the pole and finally rested on a fence. “Immediately the car stopped, I ran closer to it and pulled out the driver and carried him on my back before using my motorcycle (Okada) to carry to a nearby hospital for urgent medical attention.

“The nurses at the hospital initially wanted to reject him, but I explained to them with my identity card that the man had an accident. So they quickly revive and treat him accordingly. So we reached out to his immediate family. We thank God he is alive, he survive the accident. I cannot confirm the cause of the accident. it may be due to reckless driving or under high influence of achohol he said.

Speaking with the Chairman OPC reform Alimosho Zone, Mr Akomolafe Henry. In his reaction he said whatever someone engage in, we must do it with total dedication. Most importantly we that are involved in the security of lives and property.

Our job compliment with joints effort of the police,navy,airforce and other para- military. I will appeal to everyone to take his or her duty seriously hence security is everybody’s business. If the OPC on night duty were not on ground to rescue the victim, he would have dead from the accident he sustain. I will urge government at all levels to empower and support non government security network.

We need government intervention in the area of funds,tools and capacity building. I want to also appeal to government to support community policing. Our job and the Nigeria Police Force are inter- related. We give feedback to the force he said.
