Ooni commissions NASENI skill acquisition centre in Ile-Ife

The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, Ojaja II, on Sunday commissioned the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI) skill acquisition centre facilitated by Hon. Taofeek Abimbola Ajilesoro, a member of the House of Representatives and Chairman, House Committee on NASENI, representing Ife federal constituency, in Ile-Ife.

Ooni said the centre would add to the development of Ile-Ife economy and job creation, adding that this came at a time when there is need to empower the youth on skill and knowledge production.

He said, “This centre would boost the economic drive and entrepreneurship development of the ancient town. The skill acquisition centre is located on the earth of Ile-Ife. This would bring many youth out of joblessness and keep them busy.”

Ooni, therefore, commended Hon. Ajilesore for facilitating the centre to Ile-Ife, urging him to continue his good job as effect of his representation has been soon in Ife federal constituency.

The centre which is located at Ita-Osa, LCDA in Ife-East Local Government Area, would bring about infrastructural developments and economic growth in the heart of Ile-Ife as a city for job creation.

Speaking, Hon. Ajilesoro described the centre as an enabling environment for youth training in cut and sew for various types of clothing (tailoring) and shoe making. He added that trainees would receive exposure to different types of machines, including weaving machines, manual sewing machines, and industrial machines, with access to 24-hour power supply.

The lawmaker emphasised the significance of siting this substantial project in the heart of Ile-Ife, highlighting it as a demonstration of his love and appreciation for the people of Ife federal constituency. He expressed gratitude for their support in making him their representative and for the opportunity to serve as a ranking member in the House, which allowed him to chair the Science and Engineering Committee. He also assured Ife of more projects to come.

Ajilesoro appreciated Ooni of Ife and Ooni in council, friends, family, party leaders and all political associates, Ife Ooye LCDA staff and Ife Ooye neighbours for accommodating the establishment of this project in the Council Area.
