Prof. Sunday Ogunduyile, Vice-Chancellor, Olusegun Agagu University of Science and Technology (OAUSTECH), Okitipupa, Ondo State, has warned students against indulgence in any form of vices.
Ogunduyile gave the warning on Thursday at the institution’s permanent site in Okitipupa during orientation for new students.
Reports state that the students are for the 2019/2020 academic session.
He said that students’ dedication to studies would help to shape their lives for leadership roles in the future.
“Our common goal is to see you succeed in your studies; failure to do so leads to disappointments and frustration.
“University is the first real freedom and this freedom must be exercised responsibly because failure to do this will resort to difficulties in attaining your academic objectives, goals and aspirations.
“We will punish those who engage in exam malpractice, cultism, rape, stealing, yahoo plus, drug abuse and other vices,” Ogunduyile warned.
He noted that the institution was still non-residential, saying that its management was working tirelessly to make accomodation facilities available for students’ convinience.
The institution’s Registrar, Mr Ganiu Saliu, admonished the students to protect the good name of the institution by abiding by all its rules and regulations.
He added that students’ focus on their studies would build their future.
Saliu urged the fresh students to contribute their quotas to the development of the institution, Ondo State and Nigeria at large.
