Ondo Govt. tasks health workers on efficient service delivery

The Ondo State Ministry of Health has tasked health workers to provide efficient service delivery in line with the “Redeemed Agenda’’ of Gov. Oluwarotimi Akeredolu.

Report states that the Redeemed Agenda is the service delivery components of the eight point development initiative of Gov. Akeredolu  of Ondo state.

Speaking at the opening of a 3-day capacity building workshop on Wednesday in Akure, Mrs Folukemi Aladenola, the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, gave the charge to the participants, comprising omanagement and senior staff of the ministry.

The workshop has as its theme: “Efficiency and Productivity in the Work Place for Effective Service Delivery’’

Aladenola said that the workshop was designed to improve efficiency, effectiveness and productivity in healthcare delivery in the state.

She said that the theme of the workshop was apt as it was intended to raise the competence and performance level of management and senior staff in the ministry.

The permanent secretary urged the participants to pay rapt attention during the workshop and make it participatory and interactive in order to achieve the desired outcome.

Aladenola urged all officials in the health sector to embrace collaboration and synergy to ensure qualitative health care delivery for the people.

A resource person at the training, Mr Ikechukwu Chikwe, in his presentation on “Efficiency and Productivity in the Work’’ described efficiency and productivity as crucial in achieving organisational goals.

According to him, proper planning and scheduling of work activities keep officials on track in accomplishing the desired goals.

Chikwe tasked participants to always ensure effectiveness in the course of performing their duties by focusing on tasks that were urgent and important.

He also enjoins the officers embrace the culture of prioritising tasks, saying “such will prevent excessive interruptions to work schedules.”

Also speaking, Dr Uche Odionyenma, the Director of Planning, Research and Statistics in the ministry, described the workshop as timely.

Odionyenma highlighted the objectives of the workshop to include enhancing efficiency in the work place towards improving productivity, engendering good work place communication and refreshing participants’ knowledge in computing and information management system.

He said it was expected that participants would further replicate the training at their various units to promote effective health care delivery to the people of the state.

Cross section of participants at the workshop expressed optimism that the new knowledge acquired would translate to better productivity and efficiency at their various departments.
