Ondo Govt. commend mother, child hospital initiative at Ode Ugbo

The Ondo State Government has lauded the initiators of the proposed Mother and Child Hospital at Ode-Ugbo, Ilaje Local Government area of the state.

Dr Bobola Babatola, the Director, Ondo State Hospital Management Board, who led a medical team to the construction site of the health facility, gave the commendation during the team’s assessment visit on Wednesday.

Report  state that the project is being funded by Chevron Plc., but facilitated by the Amalgamation of Ilaje Ugbo Coastal Communities Association (AMAICOMMA) and Ilaje Regional Development Committee ( IRDC).

Babatola said that the “over 75 per cent completed” facility was a good initiative, adding that such idea would help to address the health concerns of the people, particularly in the locality.

According to him, government alone cannot sustain the health needs of individuals, commending all stakeholders who put the responsibilities upon themselves.

He further described the project as “tremendous”, stating that the needed modification had been identified, and communicated to the appropriate quarters for necessary action.

Speaking during the project inspection, Mr Samuel Ebiwanno, the representative of AMAICOMMA, said that the association was committed to ensuring the project meets the best standard upon completion.

“Whatever the inspection team from the health ministry pointed out as shortcomings would be looked into, to ensure that a standard health facility is put in place, before we finally hand it over to the State Government.

“The project is more important to us than even the state government because it will cater for the health needs of people in Ilaje area and beyond.

“We will make sure that we deliver the project, ” Ebiwanno said.

Similarly, Mr Ronald Akintoye, the Chairman of IRDC, explained that the committee was looking forward to the completion of the project for use.

Akintoye noted that all the corrections would be looked into, saying that all necessary things would be put in place.

” All the corrections will be looked into and we will put in all necessary things because we want to see qualitative healthcare services that we aspire for building this hospital.

So, we will continue to keep the dream alive,” he said.
