The Technical Committee of Ondo State Football Association (ODFA) will engage over 100 technocrats across the state’s 18 local government areas (LGAs), the committee’s Chairman, Henry Abiodun, said on Monday.
Abiodun disclosed this in Akure while giving a report of the committee’s activities to the FA Chairman, Sunday Dele-Ajayi.
He said the move was to further develop grassroots football in the state.
The committee chairman added that there would be a year-round weekend academy which would take off at the same time across the 18 LGAs.
“Under-18 scouting tournaments will be in place to raise football clubs for the FA, while there will be under-13 tourneys for young talents in the state.
“There will also be under-16 club competitions. These, among others, are in the pipeline.”
Abiodun, who described the more than 100 technocrats as “independent contractors”, however said their work would not be for free.
He further said the technical committee has also set up a coaching education programme for all the 72 coaches engaged or to be engaged.
The committee chairman said this was because the members understood that good coaches would translate into very talented players in the end.
“It is a must for all the 72 coaches from the 18 LGAs, with four from each LGA, to participate in the ‘Grassroots Coaching Clinic’ coming up very soon in Akure.”
