Members of the public have been cautioned by Ondo State Police command to desist from incessant rising of false alarms.

The Command’s Spokesperson, SP Funmilayo Odunlami, said the security agency would not look away as the raising of false alarms was becoming fashionable in the state.

In her words, “The raising of false alarms in the state calls for caution as the Command will not allow any alarmist to put unnecessary fear in the people.

“The command is miffed at the rate at which people cause the Police and the public undue stress.

“It is saddening that in less than 24 hours, two false alarms have been raised and this is not good for the mental health of the people considering the past security challenge in the state.”

Odunlami cited one of the false alarms on twitter on Sunday night where the author claimed that residents of a part of Akure were under siege by gunmen of a particular ethnic extraction.

She assured that the police would investigate and bring the alarmists to book.
