Oluwatoyin Akeredolu, the Chief Judge of Ondo State High Court, has charged the officers of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), to carry out intensive and continuous training and re-training course for investigating officers of the Corps in order to enhance their capacity in prosecution process.
Justice Akeredolu made the call at the weekend in Akure, the state capital when Hammed Abodunrin, the new Ondo State Commandant of the NSCDC paid a courtesy visit to her in office.
According to her, “the importance of thorough investigation is a prerequisite to any process of prosecution; leaving no stone unturned, the officers need to be well acquainted with the Administration of Criminal Justice Law (ACJL) which would consequently make the investigators well seasoned, I mean specifically trained, solely devoted and properly refined investigators”.
Abodunrin, in his earlier statement relayed that the command under his leadership has mapped out strategies to sensitize and re-orientate the civil populace on how to identify possible threats that could lead to insecurity.
He, however, said it was high time the general public understood the strategies and tactics of insecurity in their respective environment as this would in turn enhance their confidence in the security agencies thereby enabling the provision of credible intelligence and information that would assist in curbing crimes.
The CJ, thereafter, enjoined the Ondo NSCDC boss to strengthen the existing collaborations with the Nigeria Police, the Nigeria Correctional Service and other sister agencies in order to combat crimes across the 18 Local Government Areas of the state.
This, according to Akeredolu would also build the confidence of the people and create an atmosphere for robust relationship without competition.
