The Ondo State Security Network Agency, commonly known as Amotekun Corps, paraded 27 suspected criminals on Monday who have been involved in various criminal activities across the state.
The Chairman of the Corps, Adetunji Adeleye, reported that among those apprehended were four suspected kidnappers and individuals involved in motorcycle theft.
During the parade at the Corps’ headquarters in Alagbaka, Akure, Adeleye assured the public that Amotekun remains committed to maintaining peace and security in Ondo State.
He stated, “We are showcasing 27 suspects involved in various security violations in Ondo State. While there have been some incidents, the overall security situation in the state is satisfactory.”
Adeleye provided specific details, “noting that there were 22 suspects linked to law and order issues during the review period, and there were no outstanding enforcement violations.”
He also mentioned that the state faced six incidents of farmer-herder conflicts, five of which have been resolved, with the remaining case set for court.
Among the suspects, Michael Ojo was highlighted. Adeleye recalled a previous arrest related to a syndicate responsible for attacking motorcycle riders.
Ojo was tracked down to Kogi and Edo states and has admitted to stealing numerous motorcycles, which he disassembled and sold out of the state for prices ranging from N30,000 to N50,000.
The Chairman also named Usman Shehu, Ojo, Temidayo, and Pelemo as the group involved in kidnapping activities around Ikakumo-Akoko, emphasising that all four are now in custody.
