Ondo: Amotekun arrests couple for alleged burglary, stealing

A couple suspected of being involved  in a chain of shop  break- ings and thefts has been arrested in Akure, the state capital, by officials of the Amotekun Corps.

The arrest of the couple, identified as Adewale Olokungboye, 29, and Ngozi Kenneth, 33, led to the recovery of alleged stolen goods worth millions of naira.

While being paraded on Monday at the Amotekun Corps headquarters in Alagbaka, Akure, the husband exonerated himself and said his wife was the one involved in the act.

Adewale conceded he never questioned his wife about her whereabouts on the day of the theft, especially her absenteeism from their home that night.

He said, “My wife was the one who broke into the shop. She was accompanied by Seun and Daniel during the odd hours of the night. My wife and I have been arrested in the past by SWAT in the state for stealing. But after that, I left her in Akure and went to Ado-Ekiti. This time around, I decided to come and check on the twins she had for me; that was how I was arrested with her.”

Ngozi stated that she did not participate in the break-in but that she only waited to receive the goods.

Her words: “I was not the one who broke into the shop. I only went with Daniel. After breaking into the shop, Daniel came to meet me with the goods where I was waiting for him. Yes, I used to do affidavits for some of the goods.”
