Ondo 2024: PDP sets for guber primary

All is set for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Ondo State, governorship primary election which takes place today (Thursday) at the International Culture and Event Centre, The Dome, Akure, Ondo State.

The exercise is to be chaired by the deputy governor of Bayelsa State, Ewhrudjakpo Oborawhartevwo.

Other members of the committee are; Oluwole Busayo Oke, Muktar Ahmed, Hassana Diko, John Mathew, Nnena Ikondon and Dare Adeleke as Secretary.

Kennedy Peretei, the State Publicity Secretary of the party, in a statement made available to journalists in Akure said a total of 627 delegates from the 18 council areas of the state are expected to elect the standard bearer of the party for the 2024 governorship election.

The party has also adopted direct mode of primary for the election of its candidate ahead of the November 16 governorship election in Ondo.

He said aspirants cleared by the Senator Sam Egwu Screening Committee to participate in the primary election included former deputy governor, Agboola Ajayi; former Secretary General of Yoruba Social Political Organisation, Afenifere, Olusola Ebiseni; a member of the House of Representatives, Kolade Akinjo; Adeolu Akinwunmi, John Mafo, Benson Akingboye and Arebuwa Bosun.

As at the time of filing this report, the accreditation of the delegates is yet to start.
