The Ogun State government has been lauded for its unparalleled achievements that have brought about immense transformation and human development to at the Local Government level.
The Chairman, Ogun State Local Government Service Commission, Ms. Olubukunola Onabanjo, said this at this year’s Christmas Carol and End of Year Thanksgiving Service held at the Commission’s Secretariat, Oke Mosan, Abeokuta.
Onabanjo noted that the Governor, Dapo Abiodun, has given the Commission an opportunity to serve the residents through the smooth operations regarding appointments and regulations of the workforce.
According to her, the main purpose of the event was to give thanks to God for His faithfulness and protection throughout the year.
In her words, “The end of the year is marked with bliss, peace and good tidings, for humanity, and prayed that the reason for the season shall continue to glow, manifest and abide in the lives of all the attendees and the Commission.”
She also said this season is a time to express love to one another and build social solidarity amongst all staff irrespective of their faith, adding that people should not exchange the tradition with other worldly things.
In his remarks, the Permanent Secretary of the Commission, Dr. Adeolu Olufowobi, thanked the Chairman and members of the Commission for coming together to put up the programme despite the Commission’s tight schedule.
Olufowobi noted that the event, which enjoyed support and full participation of all staff, has brought the Commission back to the limelight again.
During his sermon, Pastor T. O. Sholaja, advised that people should not use Christmas season to chase cheap popularity by donating gifts to attract the media.
The practice, the pastor said, was fast gaining ground among Christians.
Sholaja urged staff members to always show love and demonstrate godly virtue to others irrespective of their religious background.
He stressed the need to give gifts to the needy in the society not just at the time of yuletide but at all times.
