Omisore defects to APC

Former two-time gubernatorial candidate under the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and Social Democratic Party (SDP) Iyiola Omisore has joined forces with the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) in Osun State.

In a release signed by Akintifonbo Kayode, the Secretary, All Progressive Congress, Ife Federal Constituency, Omisore would be officially registered and admitted into APC on Monday.

According to Akintifonbo, the official registration would take place at 10.00 am at Omisore’s voting unit at St Gabriel Primary School, More, Ile-Ife.

Meanwhile, Omisore served as Deputy State Governor of Osun State from 1999 to 2003 under Governor Adebisi Akande.

In 2014, he ran for Governor of Osun State on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) but lost to Rauf Aregbesola who was the incumbent Governor.

Also in 2018 Osun gubernatorial election, he contested on the platform of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) where he came third behind Senator Ademola Adeleke of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

In a statement he made in 2019, as reported in Premium Times, Omisore noted he was fully in support of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the forthcoming general elections.

He said, “I don’t have to tell anybody that I am with the party. Any wise person should know where I belong.”
