Old Naira: Suffering hasn’t ended, court ruling will unleash vote buying – Shehu Sani
A social critic and former lawmaker, Senator Shehu Sani, has insisted the Supreme Court ruling on the old Naira notes has not ended the suffering of Nigerians.
The former lawmaker also said it would rather unleash what he described as the “monster of vote buying”.
Recall that the Supreme Court recently nullified the Naira redesign policy of the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, ordering the apex bank to allow the use of old Naira notes.
The ruling came amidst lamentations by Nigerians about the sufferings associated with the policy.
Meanwhile, Sani said the court order has not ended the suffering rather it would unleash vote buying in the forthcoming gubernatorial election.
He wrote, “The ruling on the old Naira notes has not ended the suffering of the ordinary man on the queue as purported; But it will unchain and Uncage the monster of vote buying for the Governorship election.”
