Olawuyi remains our rep candidate – Kwara APC Chairman

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kwara says Rep. Tunji Olawuyi, popularly known as Ajuloopin, remains the House of Representatives candidate of APC for Ekiti, Irepodun, Isin and Oke-ero Federal Constituency of Kwara in the Feb. 25 general elections.

Mr Sunday Fagbemi, the state Chairman of the party, said this at a news conference in Ilorin on Thursday.

Fagbemi dismissed speculations that the APC had no candidate for the House of Reps in Feb. 25 general elections, adding that the party will field candidates for all political positions.

The chairman described the rumour as a figment of the imaginations of the opposition, noting that the rumour was borne out of panick and the feeling of imminent defeat.

He urged members of the public to disregard the rumour, describing it as unfounded and baseless, while expressing optimism that the APC remains the party to win at the poll.

He also urged his constituents to come out en-masse and exercise their civic responsibility by voting the candidates of the party.

“We are not disturbed by this dangerous rumour because we are confident of victory. We know that false information is a stock in trade of opposition party.

“We are appealing to our people not to allow themselves to be misled. And we want to inform members of the public to disregard the misinformation and we want everyone to know that we are fielding candidates for all positions.”

He further explained that the legal issue that was referred to had been resolved, maintaining that the recognised candidate of the party is Rep Ajuloopin.

Explaning further, Mr Hafees Adebayo, the party’s Legal Adviser, said that Ajuloopin is the authentic candidate of the party to represent the Federal constituency.

He said the Apex Court said the Federal High Court did not have jurisdiction on the case and declared the appeal as ‘incompetent’, and advised the appealant to withdraw the appeal.

“With the Apex Court’s advice, it means there is no appeal anywhere and it renders the appeal a nullity.”
