Oke-Ijasi community, Ijebu Ode cult clash turns bloody, as youths go after bisexuals

The recent spate of violence in Ijebu ode area of Ogun State reached its peak penultimate Monday when rival groups suspected to be members of the notorious Aiye and Eiye confraternity descended on the Oke-Ijasi community of Ijebu Ode and wreaked havoc in what looked very similar to a scene from an American military movie. Sporadic gun shots, matchets clanked as the two rival groups duelled in reprisal attacks to outwit one another.

It was allegedly reported that one Bayo Adetunde, a strong member and financier of the Aiye confraternity was spotted in the Oke-Ijasi community on 1st of  July 2024, two years after he was banished from entering the community following a case of homosexuality that involved him and one Adesanya Akeem Adedapo who has since been at large for fear of being maimed after series of several life-threatening texts and eventual banishment from the community.

It was reliably gathered that Bayo Adetunde and Adesanya Akeem Adedapo were caught in erotic and barbaric acts at Bayo’s house at Mowo area in Ijebu Ode sometimes in July 2022 where they were attacked by an irate mob, but Akeem  Adedapo Adesanya was so fortunate to escape while Bayo Adetunde was ransacked and  beaten mercilessly before being later whisked away. He was later dropped off the street where his family took him for treatment.

This led to their eventual banishment from Oke-Ijasi community and its environs.

According to Oke-Ijase community leaders, Bayo Adetunde and Adesanya Akeem Adedapo, whose banishment has not been lifted, are not permitted to enter the community until  a contradictory order declaring them free to return.

However, Bayo Adetunde’s sudden appearance, some two weeks ago,  believed to be orchestrated and supported by his allies, angered the entire community’s youth leadership. The irate youths in their numbers pursued him, but he managed to escape unharmed.

The community’s youth, along with the Oodua People’s Congress (OPC), a social justice group, were reportedly angered by Bayo’s sudden return and the subsequent cult clash.

They sought to enforce the banishment of homosexuals and bisexuals as a way of restoring lasting peace.

The angry youths proceeded to Bayo’s family house and that of his homosexual partner Adesanya Akeem Adedapo and destroyed several valuables while also injuring the occupants

In the original copy of the affidavit sworn to by Mr. Adesanya Adetola Jamiu,  the photocopy  of which was presented to this reporter, the 50 years old revealed that he heard the angry mob warning in loud voices that Adesanya Akeem Adedapo would be killed if he ever surfaces in the community or anywhere around the state.

He, however, appealed to all authorities concerned and the community leadership to temper justice with mercy and let peace reign.
