Ojokoro residents praise council chairman for improving lives with relief material distribution

Residents of Ojokoro have expressed their gratitude towards the HID Administration for positively impacting their lives.

The administration has been providing relief materials, such as rice, yam, beans, and garri, free of charge to alleviate poverty and support vulnerable households.

“The strategic goal of this programme is to reach (7,000) seven thousand vulnerable households which includes widows, visually impaired individuals, the physically challenged and other members of the community in the Local Council Development Area with staple food items,” Hon Tijani said.

Furthermore, the Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation (WAPA) department has conducted vocational training for 70 women and youths.

The training covered various skills such as liquid soap production, insecticide making, makeup and gele tying, fabric design, and catering. Participants were also provided with relevant equipment to start small-scale businesses, which will enhance their daily income and improve their livelihoods.

Also, young individuals who participated in a seven-day intensive computer skill acquisition program focused on graphics and web design were given 30 brand new laptops. This initiative aims to facilitate their learning process, encourage academic exploration, and enable them to engage in legitimate online businesses instead of resorting to fraudulent activities.

Some individuals were given a cash palliative/empowerment of ¦ 100,000 to support their various businesses. This financial assistance will further contribute to the economic growth and development of the community.

Mrs Oseni Abiodun who is one of the beneficiaries of the programme said, “We don’t know how to thank our Chairman, Hon Idowu Tijani for this initiative, I must say it is one of the best because, when a man is well fed, he can then proceed to pursue his career meaningful.”

The Council boss also hinted that there is going to be provision of free basic health care in all the six Primary Health Care (PHC) centres, to the people for seven days. These basic health care include treatment of malaria; High Blood Pressure screening with medication where necessary; Diabetes screening; treatment of cough and other related illnesses. All these treatments will be given freely.

The event was a crowd pulling one, yet orderly in such a manner that people were awe struck by the organisation of the program and effective assess to the supplies without delay of any kind; as well as the VIP treatment given to the recipients.

Present at this August occasion were the Chairperson Deaconess Motunrayo Tijani, the Vice Chairman, Hon. Oladipupo Coker, Leader of the House Hon Tunde Oyekunle, Council Manager Mr Bola Adeyemi , APC Party Chairman Hon jelili Oseni amongst others.
