Ojokoro LCDA Chairman urges residents to embark on massive tree planting

The Executive Chairman of Ojokoro Local Council Development Area, Hon. Hammed Idowu D. Tijani (HID) has commended the efforts of the Lagos state governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu towards sustainability of the annual tree planting exercise in the state.

The Council boss who represented the governor at the annual tree planting exercise in Ojokoro LCDA held at Agbado/Ijaiye Primary School in his keynote address emphasized the importance of tree planting in our environment as exercise is indispensable for life.

He appealed to his constituents to always endeavor to partake in the yearly exercise so as to preserve the legacy laid by the former governor, Mr. Babatunde Fashola.

He added that the exercise is beneficial to the T.H.E.M.E.S Agenda of  the administration in Lagos state.

Also, Mr Olaoye Adeniyi Representing the Honorable Commissioner of the Environment, Dr Tunji Bello commended the efforts of the Chairman in making sure that the environment is habitable for all and sundry.

He, therefore, appealed to the good people of Ojokoro to help the Council in achieving its goal of keeping alive trees planted in the environment.

In his words, Sanitarian Awonuga Taiwo, the Director of Environmental Services in the LCDA enlightened the people on the techniques of tree planting, its benefits and how to preserve the life span of the trees planted.

The Supervisor for the Environment, Mrs Florence Lawal  appreciated the efforts of the people in supporting the Chairman since the inception of his administration.

The Council-Manager in the closing remarks, Mr. Bola Adeyemi, thanked the people for gracing the occasion and prayed for more participation in the subsequent edition of the annual event.

Present at the event were the Chairman of APC in Ojokoro LCDA, Prince Adewale Bello, Chairman league of Imams in  Ojokoro LCDA, Alhaji Ambali Lawal, the Chairman, Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN)in Ojokoro LCDA, Rev C.G Coker, Leader of Ojokoro Legislative arm, Hon Abdul-Azeez Osho and other Councillors, Council Manager, Mr. Adeyemi Adebola representing the Management staff of the LCDA amongst others.
