The Executive Chairman of Ojokoro Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Hon. Hammed Idowu D. Tijani, on Thursday addressed stakeholders at the 2025 budget consultative forum, outlining plans for the upcoming year while highlighting the administration’s key achievements over the past years.
Speaking to a large gathering of political leaders, community members, and key stakeholders, Tijani emphasized that the budgeting process is not merely about numbers but about prioritizing the needs of the people, promoting inclusive growth, and ensuring efficient use of resources.
“Your cooperation and unwavering support have been the bedrock of our success,” he remarked, emphasising the importance of public involvement in shaping the future of the LCDA.
Tijani reflected on the administration’s progress, citing significant infrastructural developments including the completion of road projects such as Abraham Afolabi Street, Oye Elegunde Street, and Asphevtic roads at Ogunmola Aloba Road in Alagbado.
The LCDA has also focused on drainage construction, citing projects on Adeola Adepegba and Segun Oladapo Streets, among others, which have helped alleviate flooding and foster economic growth.
In addition to infrastructure, he said the administration has made strides in education, healthcare, and security. Tijani highlighted the renovation of health centers, including the Kola Primary Health Centre, and the construction of a divisional office for the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps in Ajegunle.
Meanwhile, he noted that the administration provided grants to over 600 local small and medium-scale enterprises (SMEs) in 2024 and continued to invest in vocational training, providing ICT skills to over 800 youth and 300 women.
The Chairman also mentioned social welfare initiatives, including cash awards to vulnerable residents to alleviate the effects of economic hardship.
He emphasized the purchase of 600 plots of land in Iboro Road, Abeokuta, to support local agricultural production and food security.
Looking ahead to the 2025 fiscal year, Tijani called on all stakeholders to continue their support, stressing the importance of timely payment of levies and taxes to ensure the sustainable development of the area.
He expressed confidence that the collaborative efforts between the government and the community would lead to more achievements in the coming year.
