…As President Buhari assures hope for the country

The Charmain, Planning committee Of the Ojiji Izhi Abuja 2020, Barr. Opoke Kelechi has said that the Izhi agenda 2023 should be sacrosanct and shall be a mass movement.
Barr. Opoke made the disclosure while delivering a welcome address in the Annual Ojiji Festival of Abuja General Assembly of Izzi Nnodo Ekumenyi Held at the African Hall of Barcelona Hotel wuse 2, Abuja on Saturday 10th October,2020.
The chairman of the organizing committee lamented that it is unfortunate that after twenty four(24) years of the creation of Ebonyi state, that izhi people are yet to produce a governor nor deputy governor.
According to him “Ndi Izhi, we need to demand and go for what we want. Let’s shun hate,over confidence and precedence. Precedence has ruined countless men in history,people read history and choose to believe what they want”
Meanwhile Arch(Dr) Edward Nkwegu, OFR, KSJI who was the Guest speaker in the event while delivering his lecture titled THE IZHI HISTORICAL ORIGIN AND EXPANSION explained the reality of the situation is that the Izhi’s has always had the opportunity of fixing their problems but have chosen to do the contrary and are looking for whom to blame.
Dr. Nkwegu who was the 2015 governorship candidate of Labour party in the state and also a governorship aspirant for the APC ticket in 2019 decried while Izhi people have decided to allow the labours of our hero’s past forgotten so soon by the present generation.
He revealed the people as the major cause of the present challenges facing them saying “How come most Izhi People don’t ask questions, how come most of them have joined the clapping follow-follow gang? Who prevented them from participating and showing interest in governance”
He however said there is hope for the Izhi people if there can identify their numerical strength and greatness attached to their heritage.
President Muhammadu Buhari who was represented by his Publisher, Mr Wole Mike during the event congratulated the people and assured them that there is hope for the country.
Other Guest at the event who took time to speak were Barr. Chijoke Ndubuisi Agbo, Former Ebonyi state commissioner For Education, Hon. Mathias Adum, Former Commissioner For Local government and Chieftaincy Matters, Representatives of Chairman, Revenue Mobilization and Fiscal commissioner, Engr. Elias Mbam represented by Mr Peter Mbah and Former Secretary to Ebonyi state government, Prof. Bernard Odoh represented by Barr. Ekeigbo Sampson.
The Guest encouraged them to continue in unionism as that is the only way they can achieve the Izhi agenda.
