Oil theft: Tinubu’s administration can end menace in two weeks – Bayelsa monarch, Dakolo

The Chairman of Bayelsa State Traditional Rulers Council, His Royal Majesty Bubapraye Dakolo, said President Bola Ahmed Tinubu could end oil theft in two weeks.

King Dakolo disclosed this on Wednesday in an Arise Television Interview monitored by Newsmen.

He was reacting to the menace of oil theft in the Niger Delta region.

Recall that the security operatives and Nigerian National Petroleum Company had set ablaze a vessel, MT TURA II, laden with 150,000 litres of stolen crude oil in Delta State.

Dakolo faulted the government’s current approach to fighting oil theft.

He noted that the government needs to focus on the real issues of tackling oil theft rather than playing ostrich.

According to him, if the president wants to end the menace, that would be the case.

He stressed that whatsoever the outcome of the fight against oil fight today is what the Nigerian state wants.

“I do not subscribe to jungle justice by the Authority. What needs to be done is to invest in the Nigerian Navy to be more professional in its responsibility.

“If the Nigeria state is serious about dealing with oil thefts, it will end in Two weeks. The Nigerian state is just playing ostrich on the matter. Whatever outcome we are getting from the fight against oil theft is what the Nigerian state wants.

“If the President wants oil theft stopped, it will stop. When that desire comes, the menace will stop”. Let the president be firm about the oil theft fight”, he stated.
