Ogun2023: Nigerian Army celebrates West African social activities

The Nigerian Army has celebrated Nigeria’s diverse cultures and unity to encourage espirit de corps among security personnel.

The West African Social Activity (WASA) is an annual event among Nigerian Army Formation with the fourth quarter of the year.

The event took place at 35 Artillery Brigade, Alamala Barracks, Abeokuta the Ogun State capital.

The occasion was aimed at creating a more social atmosphere for officers, soldiers, their families and friends to interact and bond despite the challenges situation they found themselves.

The west African Social Activities (WASA) is a series of activities include: Hausa culture, Igbo culture and Yoruba Culture and match past by cultural Troupes, Lighting of Camp fire.

In his address, the State Commandant, Brig. Gen. Mt Aminu commended the effort of the brigade and other security agencies in ensuring a peaceful atmosphere before, during and after the general and governorship elections in the state.

His words, “The success and continued effort of brigade has no doubt increased the confidence of the people. I can see that people feel secured while they go about their daily activities in the state.

“I must also commend level of cordial civil-military relationship enjoyed by the Brigade which is critical in provision of security.

“I want to use this opportunity to urge all my unit commanders to take stock of their achievements last year and plan for years ahead. You must continue to give training priority in your various units. It forms the basis of military profession in discharging our duties, we must continue to be professionals and act in line with the vision of the Chief of Army staff.

“I want to urge of all us to continue to maintain the harmonious relationship in order to achieve the average results in maintenance of peace in the state.”
