Ogun youths slam Gov. Abiodun’s critics

Bankole Taiwo, Abeokuta

Youths in Ogun state under the umbrella of Ogun Youth Advocate for Social Development (OGYASD) have slammed those criticizing the road projects of Governor Dapo Abiodun, describing them as enemies of the state.

This came in sharp response to criticism that the roads being constructed across the state by the current administration are substandard and cannot stand the test of time.

The youths made the remark when they stormed the hometown of the  Governor in Iperu-Remo area of the state for environmental sanitation.

Abiodun had on the same day embarked on inspection of road projects across four local council areas of the state, touring Sagamu, Obafemi-Owode, Abeokuta South and Abeokuta North LGs.

Speaking with journalists during the sanitation exercise in Iperu Market, the OGYASD President,  Comrade Oluseyi Alamu said those criticizing the governor are further damaging the state, adding that the current administration needs the support of all and sundry to move the state forward.

According to him, the OGYASD members came up with environmental sanitation intitiatiive as a way of showing  supports for the current administration.

He said, “We are here today not because it is convenient but because we felt it’s important for us to throw our support behind the governor. We are not getting support from anyone, we just want to do this to move Ogun state forward even as the present government is doing.

“Our members have come from all the three Senatorial Districts of the state this morning and here we are cleaning the market. We cannot join others to criticize the government, rather, we will join the government to build the state. Those who are criticising Abiodun are enemies of this state.”

Representing the market leader, Alhaja Atinuke Odunuga described the OGYASD members as selfless lovers of the state even as she expressed gratitude to the gesture.

Odunuga said the youths have demonstrated love for the state, adding that the exercise at the Iperu Market cannot be forgotten by traders in the market.
