Ogun workers write Gov Abiodun over unpaid 21 months cooperative deductions, others

The workers in Ogun State have written Gov Dapo Abiodun over impending labour crisis in the state.

The workers said that the current fragile industrial peace in the state is being threatened by the refusal of the government to remit 21 months workers’ cooperative deductions as well as non implementation of the contributory pension scheme for over 11 years whereas government has continued to deduct this from workers’ salaries yet, such is not transferred into the accounts of the Pension Fund Administrators the workers registered with.

Other grievances of the workforce in the state included the eight years of unpaid Statutory Leave Allowances out of which the current administration was said to have owed four years among others.

In a letter written by the Joint Negotiating Council (JNC) of the state and signed by its Secretary, Comr Olusegun Adebiyi, the workers stated that only a meaningful dialogue with the governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun over all the grievances highlighted above could avert the imminent strike action in the state.

The letter stated that the indifference attitude of the government towards these genuine concerns of the entire workforce of the state is already making many workers to be agitated and restive and that except a dialogue is initiated as soon as possible, the state may be on its way to another labour unrest.
