Bankole Taiwo, Abeokuta

The Special Adviser to Ogun State  Governor on Technical and Vocational Education, Prof. Joseph Odemuyiwa, has disclosed that the government will synergise with the State Chapter of the Nigerian Automobile Technicians Association of Nigeria (NATA), to organise training for students through internship programme in Automobile Mechanic and other vocations, to boost their practical knowledge.

Prof. Odemuyiwa revealed this in Abeokuta while meeting with executives of the association, stating that the move was a demonstration of Governor Dapo Abiodun’s prompt response to the latter’s request during the 2023 Budget Town Hall meeting in Sagamu.

The Special Adviser noted that his agency had mapped out modalities for the accreditation of workshops, equipment and personnel of  NATA for the programme, saying the training would cover practical aspects in Carpentry, Painting, Rewiring, Bending, Upholstery and Welding, among others.

He said, “Our collaboration with NATA is to expose all categories of students to deeper practical aspects of the various trade subjects and enhance their skills because there is no way our economy will survive without these technicians.”

In his remarks, the State Chairman of NATA, Comrade Adeleke Balogun, appreciated the government for the initiative, assuring that an enabling environment would be provided for the smooth running of the training.
