Ogun to begin disbursement of grants to develop LGAs — Commisioner

The Ogun State government is set to begin the commencement of disbursement of grants to all the local governments in the state that would bring about implementation and development of direct impact projects and to boost the economy of the third tier government.

The Commisioner for local government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Mr. Afolabi Afuape made this disclosure during the inauguration of various projects by the leadership of Ikenne Local Government Area of Ogun State, under the chairmanship of Hon. Segun Ogunseye.

The commissioning of Eight Lock-up Shops in Imobido Street, Iperu-Remo, Ikenne, and the commissioning of a block of 20 open stalls to commemorate the 100 days in office of the council Chairman, Afuape noted that financing people-oriented projects with Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) would engender more support from the citizens of the area.

He said the projects would improve commerce and enhance the IGR of the Local Government Area (LGA), noting that the State government would soon give grants to LGs for implementation and development of direct impact projects, to boost their economy.

In his speech, the Chairman, Hon. Segun Ogunseye while appreciating the present administration in the State for its support, he pledged that with an improved IGR and grants from the government, the council would deliver more people-oriented projects,

“We were at Idotun, Ikenne, for the flag-off of a new market, and the commissioning of a block of 20 open stalls. Both projects will boost trade and commerce, as well as increase our IGR,” Ogunseye noted.
