Ogun to announce groundbreaking of inland dry port, as project awaits recommendation
The Ogun State Government is set to announce the groundbreaking of its Inland dry port.
The governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, represented by the Commissioner for Transportation, Engr. Dairo Olugbenga made this known when he received representatives from The Nigerian Shippers Council (NSC), The Federal Ministry of Marine and Blue Economy (FMM&BE), The host State, Arise IIP (The State Project Consultant) and other stakeholders.
In his welcome address, the governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, represented by the Commissioner for Transportation, Engr. Dairo Olugbenga appreciated the presence of the team to the State, saying that their visit is for the development of the State.
“Indeed, it is our delight to have you again in our State. Your coming to the State is our desire, as it is towards the development of our Inland Dry Port Project, which we are very careful and steadfast in its siting. As we all know is one of the strategic developmental plans of the present Administration, which cuts across the three Senatorial Districts of the State.
“We have our Mass Transit Buses across the State, work is in progress on the Olokola Deep Sea Port, also on Red and Blue Urban Rail Services extension. In fact, we are currently about to kick start a commercial operation at The Gateway International Airport. We appreciate your coming, while we hope for robust and fruitful deliberations,” he said.
He further said that the project will soon be announced for ground breaking ceremony, adding that sequel to all developmental processes dully in place, the ground breaking ceremony will soon be fixed and announced.
In his submission, the Chairman, Project Delivery Team Mr. Immanuel acknowledged that the State was at the forefronts of investment and vocational hub, noting that all due diligence put on track by the state has scored the it pass mark for recommendation for Issuance of Certificate of Compliance.
“There is no doubt that the State is at the forefront of investment and vocational hub in Nigeria. This project under our view is not for the advantage of the State alone, but in future time will be of great benefits to other States and the Country at large.
“We identify with your dream and in support of it for its national interest. With all due diligence on track, you have scored a great pass mark to credit Issuance of Certificate of Compliance,” he said.
Mr. Bala Adamu from NSC and Mr. Ayanja Mathew FMOM&BE, separately spoke on the importance of Communication Channels, Detailed Memorandum of Understanding signed with the State Project Consultant, Choice of Developmental plan, Evidence of Environmental Social Impact Assessment amongst others.
