Ogun Teaching Service Commission justifies mass transfer of teachers

The Ogun State Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM) on Wednesday, justified the recent mass transfer of teachers across the state.

“it is meant to improve educational standards in the state,’’ its chairman, Evang. Olalekan Ifede, said at a meeting with education stakeholders in Abeokuta.

Ifede said the measure would enhance even distribution of teachers across public schools in the state and help the under-staffed schools.

He assured that the commission would reconsider cases of staff members with critical health conditions.

The Ogun TESCOM boss urged teachers to embrace the new postings and continue to impart quality knowledge in students.

“The management intends to ensure that the academic performance of students in the state improves and this informed the transfers,’’ he said.

In his remarks, Dr Waheed Olanloye, Permanent Secretary in the Commission, urged stakeholders to partner with the state government in its on-going educational reforms.

Olanloye explained that the process of reviving education system required collaborative efforts of relevant stakeholders.

He advised teachers to discharge their duties diligently, adding that, “adherence to policies of the commission will put smiles on their faces as they will be rewarded physically and spiritually.’’

In separate remarks, the Principals-General of the Egba, Yewa and Ijebu zones commended the state government for prioritising the welfare of teachers as well as taking steps to enhance educational standards in the state.
