The Ogun state government has assured that due process and fair play will be strictly followed as it continues with the process of recruiting applicants of ‘Ogun TEACh’ scheme.
The Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Prof. Abayomi Arigbabu gave this assurance during the screening exercise for the applicants of Ogun State Teaching Intervention Programme (OGUN TEACh) in Abeokuta, pointing out that it is important to sustain standard and merit in the recruitment process.
Arigbabu said employment of qualified personnel to teach in the classrooms, would raise the standard of education, affirming that from the beginning, the exercise had been done in a way that would enable government get the best for its education system.
He stressed that candidates must possess relevant degrees in Education from accredited institutions, with at least second class lower for them to be employed into secondary schools, while holders of National Certificate on Education (NCE) must have merit before they would be accepted to teach in the primary schools, adding that Higher National Diploma in relevant subjects would also be considered for Technical Colleges.
The Commissioner expressed satisfaction on the level of coordination and comportment both from the panelists and the interviewees, saying, “for candidates to have made it up to the interview level, they have up to 80 percentage chance of being employed”.
Speaking on behalf of other applicants, Aminat Adeniji and Oluwaseyi Ajibola commended the management of the Ministry for the exercise, describing it as smooth and stress-free.
