Ogun Speaker sues for credible July 24 council polls

The Speaker, Ogun House of Assembly, Hon Olakunle Oluomo has appealed for free, fair and credible process at the July 24 local government elections in the state.

Speaking with our Correspondent on Saturday in Abeokuta, Oluomo appealed to all parties to follow due process and play according to the rules.

“The state’s Independent Electoral Commission should abide by rules governing elections and I appeal to all stakeholders from the ruling party to other parties to play the game according to rules.

“We should not forget that personalisation of electoral process just led to the collapse of a political empire in the state recently.

“All of  us should learn from that by making things free and fair and making sure that only people who win elections take positions as representatives of the people.’

“That is when there will be peace and progress,’’ he said.

On Friday, the Ogun State Independent Electoral Commission announced July 24 as the date for chairmanship and councillorship elections into the state’s 20 Local Government Councils.
