Ogun So-Safe Corps charged on performance

Bankole Taiwo, Abeokuta

Officers of Ogun State Community Social Orientation and Safety Corps (SO-SAFE) have been admonished to justify the confidence reposed in them by the citizens in the provision of adequate security for lives and property.

The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Dr. Rotimiolu Akinlesi, gave the admonition during a courtesy visit to the headquarters of the Corps at Oke-Ilewo, Abeokuta, stating that the Ministry would continue to encourage the parastatals under it for efficient service delivery.

The Permanent Secretary said the visit became imperative in order to boost the morale of the officers for better performance, enjoining them to be more professional, polite and conscious in the discharge of their duties.

Dr. Akinlesi said the security of lives and property was germane to the socio-economic development of any society, especially at the community or grassroots level, saying the Ministry would not relent in supporting them for improved productivity at all times, so that citizens of the State could go to sleep with their two eyes closed.

He said, “Security of lives and property is important to the socio-economic development of any society, without a proper security network, especially at the community or grassroots level, the larger society is exposed to dangers. I want you to know that the Ministry is willing to support your course.”

In his welcome address, the Commandant of the Corps, Commander Soji Ganzallo, appreciated the Permanent Secretary for the visit, assuring that officers in the Corps would perform their duties as expected in providing adequate security for the citizens.

He called for more cooperation from the people, particularly on information intelligence to allow for the smooth operation of the Corps in curbing criminal activities in the State.
