Ogun: Single mother pours hot water on woman who accused her of sleeping with her husband

A 37-year- single mother of two, Joy Sunday,  has been arrested by men of Ogun state police command for pouring hot water on the face of another woman, Justina Ameh who accused her of sleeping with her husband.

Joy Sunday allegedly poured the hot water on the victim, Justina Ameh right inside the church, Spring of Life Global Ministry, Giwa area, Agbado via Sango Ota, where the two of them fellowship.

According to statement from the Police Public Relations Officer of Ogun state command, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi on Sunday, Joy was said to have been arrested following a report lodged at Agbado divisional headquarters by the elder sister of the victim one Kelechi Samuel.

Kelechi was said to have reported that, she went for vigil at the Spring of Life Global Ministry situated at Giwa area of Agbado with her younger sister when the suspect came into the church with a container of hot water and poured it on her sister’s face thereby causing her a grievous harm.

She stated further that while she was trying to hold the suspect (Joy), the suspect equally stabbed her left hand.

Upon this report, the DPO Agbado Division, CSP Kehinde Kuranga, was said to have detailed his men to the scene, where the suspect was promptly arrested.

On interrogation, the suspect, Joy Sunday allegedly explained that, the victim had been accusing her of sleeping with her husband for quite some time now, and all efforts to disabuse her mind from it proved abortive.

She added that on that fateful day, while they were in the church, the victim came as usual and started raining curses on her and that while she tried to walk away from her, the victim pulled her back with her cloth and tore the cloth.

Joy narrated further that it was that annoyance that made her to go home and boil water which she brought back to the church and pour on the victim’s face.

The police said that when asked whether she was actually dating the victim’s husband, the suspect said she could swear with anything that there was nothing between her and the victim’s husband. The victim was said to have been taken to Strong Tower Hospital for medical treatment.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, CP Edward Awolowo Ajogun has directed that the case be properly investigated with the view of charging it to court as soon as possible.
