Ogun shanty school viral video: Gov Abiodun begins construction of classrooms

Sequel to the viral video of shanty structure of Community Primary School, Ilupeju, Oja Odan, Yewa North local government area of Ogun State which has for days been circulating on the social media, the governor of the state, Prince Dapo Abiodun has ordered immediate reconstruction of the school.
It will be recalled that the video of the community owned school, said to have taken over by the government in 2015 with population of about 360 pupils reeks of obvious neglect and abandonment as the pupils were being taught under make shift buildings made of thatched roofs.
The viral video as captured by an international television station had generated so much anger and condemnation with many people calling on Ogun State government to come to the aid of the school and rehabilitate it without further waste of time.
Prince Dapo Abiodun, heeding the clarion call has therefore ordered construction of a block of classrooms for the distressed school.
The governor was said to have directed that the building be immediately constructed to alleviate the sufferings of the pupils and community.
The last administration of Sen. Ibikunle Amosun which took over the community school was alleged to have abandoned the school since 2015 when academic activities took off.
As at the time of filing this report, the foundation for the block of classrooms had already been laid in line with the position of the Governor on education, especially on the provision of adequate learning infrastructure for pupils and students.
The intervention was said to have made the school one of the over 900 that have so far been renovated across the State by the Dapo Abiodun Administration since it came on board.
It would be recalled that Governor Abiodun had on assumption of office, declared a state-of-emergecy in the educational sector.
