Ogun: Police launch manhunt for fleeing guard over theft of N5m cables

Ogun police Command said its operatives have already launched manhunt against one Godwin, a security guard alleged to  have been responsible for the theft of N5 million cables used on the building he was employed to safeguard.

The building said to be under construction is located at No 1, Orisunmibare Street, Greenland CDA, Sabo, Abeokuta.

According to statement from the Police Public Relations Officer of the State Command, SP Omolola Odutola, on Wednesday, one American returnee, Orisunmibare Owoyemi was said to have lodged the complaint of house breaking, and stealing to CSP Mustapha Opawoye, DPO Ilupeju Division on the 8th of August 2023.

Owoyemi was said to have told the police that he visited his house under construction recently and found out to his dismay, that the security guard employed to secure the house was no where to be found while the electrical cables worth N5 million used on the building had been vandalised. Also missing said to be missing was a car battery.

He had reportedly pointed suspecting fingers to his security guard, Godwin who he said had not been seen since he discovered the theft of the electrical cables.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Alamutu Abiodun was said to have been briefed and he had directed that trackers be deployed to catch up with the suspect insisting that the accused would surely be apprehended to answer for his misdeeds.

The state police command has equally called on members of the public with  useful information that will aid the arrest of the fleeing suspect to get in touch with the police.
