As the Easter celebration approaches, the Ogun State Police Command has provided assurance to residents regarding heightened security measures and robust police patrols.
This commitment was reiterated by SP Omolola Odutola, the State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), during an interview with journalists in Abeokuta on Saturday.
SP Omolola Odutola urged residents not to be alarmed but instead enjoy the festivities with moderation, emphasising that there will be a visible police presence across all areas to prevent any potential disruptions of public order.
“Wherever you find yourself, be rest assured that there is visibility police in all places,” stated Odutola, highlighting the concerted efforts of law enforcement to maintain peace and security throughout the Easter period.
The proactive stance taken by the Ogun State Police Command underscores its dedication to safeguarding the well-being of residents and ensuring a safe environment for all to celebrate the holiday season..
“Wherever you find yourself, be rest assured that there is visibility police in all places.
“Also, we have continued to maintain our usual routine patrol. So, whether there is Easter or not, if you want to move from one place to another I can assure you that you have no reason to panic,” she said.
The PPRO, however, warned residents against night activities, especially church vigil at remote areas.
“We need to rethink and re-orientate our pastors and religious worshipers, we should try as much as possible to be alert.
“We do not want them to engage in night vigil just to ensure that nobody comes to harass them or kidnap them.
“We have recorded cases of worshipers being kidnapped during vigil at remote areas,” she said.
