Ogun: Police arrest three-member ‘one chance robbers’

Ogun state police command said it has arrested a three-man gang of popularly called “one chance” armed robbers said to have for some time been terrorising unsuspecting residents and passengers traveling along Sagamu and Ijebu environs.

The trio of Ayomide Akerele, Yinka Olanipekun and Olatunde Olapade were said to have been apprehenended by SP Ibiyeye Bolaji Hakeem, the Divisional Police Officer of Sakura, Sagamu.

According to the statement from the Spokesman of the state police command, SP Omolola Odutola, on Monday, the alleged robbers’ mode of operation was to pick passengers at the garage but after few minutes into the journey, the robbers would dispossess the passengers of their valuables and would sometimes asked them to make transfer into an account provided.

Their victims would then be asked to swear to a fearful statue that they would never disclose their ordeal to anyone after which they would be pushed off the moving vehicle.

The robbers were said to have been caught yesterday after dispossessing one Isaac Alabi of N150,000.

The robbers who claimed to have come from Beere-Oje axis of Ibadan to perpetrate their criminal activities in Ogun State were allegedly said to have confessed to the crime.

The Commissioner of Police, Abiodun Alamutu while commending his men for a job well done urged them to keep up the tempo until all the undesirable elements were flushed out of the state
